Not sure why Flavor is a review topic, but if the algorithm wants to know if this product makes the water taste like water, then sure - 5 stars.
To the point, it was easy to install. After resetting the filter, I pour several dummy glasses just to flush the pipes, but yeah, water tastes fine.
This filter works well. Water has a clean taste and no smell. This costs more than others so I'm not sure of the value. I have another fridge that uses a different filter that is less expensive and it works just as good. It also changes at the same frequency so that's what I'm basing my opinion on.
Quick install. Popped open the cover, tilted the filter down in front and unscrewed the locking tabs. Careful when pulling the filter straight out as I had the housing which hides and holds it, pop off the ceiling of the fridge.
50.00 because GE forces you to pay for their chip reader or your water won’t work. Total rip-off. I will buy a bypass plug next time and be done.
If you have a recently made GE Refrigerator, you don't have a choice in buying a GE certified water filter because they have a RFD chip built in to tell the Refrigerator that it is a Certified water filter. GE says it's to make sure that "non-certified filters" don't cause a leak as the RFD chip will turn off the flow to your water and ice maker. I have read about people hacking these RFD chips and used nonGE filters but why bother.
