Buy the manufacturer water filter not brand X.

Our first replacement was a cheaper version which said it was compatible to the one we replaced. But the cheap one was difficult to install and lasted only half as long as the GE ones. Pay the extra upfront and get one that really lasts longer and fits better.

Genuine GE filter

I have a GE refrigerator that uses this filter. A light inside alerts me when it's time to replace the filter. It works very well and I'm satisfied with it.

Long lasting

Bought a different brand due to the price difference. The other brand lasted 3 months. GE filters have lasted me from 6 months to 18 months, but, yeah, pricey. Quality filter.
